Volunteers

Volunteers are the backbone of our agency.
Without the time and talent of so many talented people,
there would truly be more people living on the street.

Here are just a few ways that you can help through volunteering.

Volunteering can bring a great sense of balance and well-being to life.  Whether sparked by wanting to give back or to hone skills, the first step is to look inward and answer a few questions.  If you want to do your part, as a volunteer, ask yourself the following questions and we can help you figure out what opportunities are best suited to you.

Do I have specific skills or abilities to share?
What types of things am I good at doing? (writing, working with kids, construction work, art, painting)
What time commitment am I willing to make?
What don't I want to do, as a volunteer?
Do I want to volunteer with other people or by myself?
Do I know other people that may be interested in joining me?
What are my personal goals to achieve from volunteering?
When do I want my volunteer work to start?

Asking yourself these questions will help determine expectations for your volunteer experience. Please complete the form below to contact our Volunteer Coordinator, Dick Lusso - or email him directly at dlusso@southparkinn.org

Meal Groups
In 2009, 45 groups of volunteers provided 85% of all dinner meals.
Saving us nearly $45,000 in food costs.

Groups of individuals made up of families, co-workers, church groups or neighbors that come together to provide meals for 160 clients each evening.  Generally, each group committs to one evening per month to prepare and serve an evening meal.  The meal can be prepared in our kitchen or at your location and transportated to our facility.

For more information you can download our Meal Preparation Guidelines and/or contact:  Mary Vazquez (860) 724-0071 or mvazquez@southparkinn.org

Day of Caring
Caring individual(s) that provide our agency with much needed assistance to help with maintenance and facility projects.  Our funding is not sufficient to employ a full time maintenance staff.  Daily cleaning is a chore that the clients assist the staff to perform.  A a part time staff person is responsible for facility and equipment repairs, which our historic facility has a lot of!

Projects such as painting, flooring, furniture refinishing and other large projects are a great way for a group of people to help.    To discuss our current project needs:
Please contact Dick Lusso at (860) 724-0071 or dlusso@southparkinn.org
Board Members
We are always in search of individuals willing to support our agency with their time and talent to participate on our Board of Directors.  The Board meets the first Monday of every other month at 4:30 pm.  If you are interested in the Board of Directors or helping on a committee:Please contact John Ferrucci at (860) 724-0071 or jferrucci@southparkinn.org
