Emergency Shelter
Housing is a human right
Our 73-bed shelter, which serves men, women, and veterans, sees every individual as a guest needing service.
South Park Inn is a “low-barrier” shelter. SPI adopted a low-barrier shelter model to provide a life-saving intervention to those individuals who need it the most. A low-barrier shelter is an integral part of an effective homeless service delivery system, but more importantly, a low-barrier shelter saves lives.
The people who are the most vulnerable tend to be the people who would not usually come into a shelter. This situation can include, but is not limited to, someone who is addicted to alcohol and would fear coming to a shelter due to not being able to be sober and being turned away or being made to feel ashamed of their addiction.
While SPI does not allow alcohol or drugs on the premises, we create a supportive environment around guests to help them to stabilize, and overcome homelessness and addiction as best we can.
In other words, shelter first. Addiction and mental health stabilization second.
